The Thistle regional hotel portfolio which comprised 28 hotels was purchased in 2007.

The portfolio presented an opportunity to improve returns to the owner through a targeted capital expenditure and programme of improvement at selected hotels.

A portfolio of eight poorer quality hotels were traded immediately and the capex programme was focused on the remaining 20 hotels which had a stock of 3,100 rooms throughout the UK. 1,575 rooms, 15 ballrooms and function rooms, 8 bars and restaurants were refurbished.
