The Abbey National headquarters was acquired unconditionally in December 2003 for £18.2 million without planning consent. A 138 unit residential scheme was granted consent within a year.

Redevelopment involved the retention of a primary façade and clock tower on Baker Street directly over two major underground lines. This involved holding up a 500T solid stone structure with 70T of temporary steel work approx 100ft in the air, with the Jubilee line running beneath site and on a major red route road.
